The village of Ischia Ponte is one of the island’s iconic places. Here you can taste the island traditions and culture. At the end of the promenade, you will find the island’s symbol, the majestic Aragonese Castle. The Castle can be visited. Indeed, it is not only a touristic spot but also home to a hotel and a restaurant. A very popular event taking place in this area is the celebration in honour of Saint Anne, which attracts tourists from all over thanks to its light shows and fireworks.
In the area called “Cartaromana”, you will find Michelangelo Tower, famous for its legend. It is said that the artist Michelangelo Buonarroti, romantically linked to the castellan Vittoria Colonna, lived there in the 1500s. According to the legend, the two used to meet secretly thanks to an underwater bridge connecting the Castle to the Tower. However, this information is not supported by any historical document.
