  • Serrara Fontana

There are numerous interesting places in this town. First and foremost, the evocative village of Sant’Angelo, visited by thousands of tourists every year. It is an ancient fishing village which, over the years, has become one of the main sights on the Island of Ischia. It is characterized by narrow streets, tiny craft shops and boutiques.

The main square has direct contact with the sea and is connected to an islet, which can be accessed to admire the landscape from the top and, at the right time, to enjoy the sunset. Another landmark, located near the sea, is Cavascura, popular for its thermal water. This evocative site was known since the time of Greeks and has preserved its natural state up to the present day. Indeed, you can still find the same waterfalls and small caves discovered by Greeks and Romans at their landing in this extraordinary place. The thermal springs of Cavascura are not far from Maronti Beach and can be accessed through a tiny corridor between two rocky walls. This is a supernatural place, where you can enjoy thermal mud and baths, fumes, saunas and massages. Onsite there is also a wellness centre established at a later time.

If you are fans of panoramas and sunsets and you want to take memorable pictures, the panoramic viewpoint of Serrara is the right place for you. It is one of the panoramic spots in Ischia. Here you can admire the vastness of the sea and a large part of the island, more precisely the western side. The islet of Sant’Angelo, clearly distinguishable from the rest of the landscape, stands out. Looking further you will see the Isle of Capri and the Sorrento coast.
You cannot miss an excursion on Epomeo Mount. You can begin your experience from different sides. That of Serrara Fontana is the most accessible by car, but only up to a certain point. The streets are equipped with signs that will guide you to a lay-by, starting point of your adventure. Reaching the top of the Epomeo is not hard, just follow the path and you will make it! With a little goodwill, once you reach the top, you will enjoy a breath-taking spectacle. It is the highest point reachable, where the entire island lies before you.
